Envisage | Anthony J. Langford

The seconds drift
Into time
While the fools play the field
And waste theirs.

The risk takers
Run the gantlet
While the peacekeepers
Struggle
To salvage the innocent.

As a consequence
Few battles appear worthy
Short term fixations
Do not equate
To long term goals.

So we grin, thumbs up
Dicks flapping in the fallout
And nipples tapered
Until we beat ourselves senseless
Waiting for a brand new day
Which inevitably rolls into play
Yet never as ‘sunny side up’
As we’d like it.
