Sweet Nothings | Nupur Jain

I haven’t seen
Your wispy hair
Say no
When I ask you
To nuzzle close
To the screen
So that I can plant
A kiss
On top of your head
As you walk
In the snow

It’s too cold for you to do that.
So you talk
Today’s weather to me.

I haven’t heard
Your mouth call me honeysuckle
Ever since
We first spoke
Some three years ago
You called
And told me
The truth about me
You had said
To tease me
Out of me

I have no clue why you don’t do that.
Sometimes, more often.
So we speak about the maple leaves every day.

Can I be
Your part wish?
Full dream, a buzzing bee
Fairy lights
Strung up
On your wrist
That you carry around
In the flurry
Of life
My head has started wanting
These wonderful things now

I dare not ask you if you want me too
This way, no other
So we chat about work for 45 minutes like we eat food every couple of hours.

I so whisper wish I could see you (Once again)
Tonight
After hours
And ask you
To be mine
Aloud.
