Life in a disorder// | Subhashree Pattnaik

I’m a paralyzed patient on a nasty hospital bed Nobody wants to come near me, I’m miserable In splits, in extremes, in contradictions, I’m a human dread.
The floor stinks, under a huge brute's head Contemplating centipedes crawling inside me, palpable. I’m a paralyzed patient on a nasty hospital bed.
It’s a room built in perfect opposites, secluded They stare at me from a distance in pity, punishable. In splits, in extremes, in contradictions I’m a human dread.
I didn’t choose this, the agony, the suffering, they have spread Those who did this, perhaps in secret, now chuckle. I’m a paralyzed patient on a nasty hospital bed.
My lover loved me like God, left when I was laid My friends slowly grew tired, I went into a dream circle. In splits, in extremes, in contradictions I’m a human dread.
My world goes crazy on the ceiling, like it’s being played Even the ghosts make fun of me in their funny swirl. I’m a paralyzed patient on a nasty hospital bed. In splits, in extremes, in contradictions I’m a human dread.
Author : Subhashree Pattnaik

This is Subhashree Pattnaik, currently a young literature student. She thinks Kafka and Sylvia Plath would have been her best had they been here. Romantic literature appeals to her and in post modern literature she understands herself.
