The Luminosity of his Words | Richa Gupta

He stood straight and tall, his physique frail, yet more powerful
than the glow amassed by a thousand golden stars
With a philosophy more influential
than the might of a beast,
Gandhi led India,as the many suns arched
across the tapestry of the sky-
a tempestuous sky brimming with political instability and fear,
sheltering a nation that was bestowed with leaders
as inspiring as himself
As he steered determined processions of fervent followers
across the numerous towns and hamlets of his native land,
gathering supporters for his noble cause
of securing Indian autonomy from the imposing British rule,
his name became one shining of glistening, silver light,
emanating an aura of optimism, of a newfound hope
for lighter days, devoid of the darkness of foreign suppression,
of hope for a struggle guided by Satyagraha, non-violence,
without the shedding of an incarnadine drop of blood-
guided solely by the principles of passive resistance, and belief
in the incomparable powers of truth and ahimsa
He maintained a fortified front, despite the overwhelming waves
of adversity, that crashed upon the glittering shore of his ideology
in many a painful, cerulean ripple
He abode by his morals of peace with devotion,
setting the movement of independence into motion
and protected his vision of free India… not with a talwar,
but with a loyalty physically diaphanous,
yet containing the power and energy of the mighty universe
He was a king, crowned with the glimmering jewels of self-assurance,
as he fought to free those in South Africa from the tyranny of racism,
as he emerged victorious by releasing Indian peasants
from the shackling chains of unjust legislation,
as he conducted the Salt March to liberate his people,
by helping dismantle a foreign empire with his bare hands
He left his name and words engraved in the soil
of his homeland, to which he dedicated his life to-
to her denizens, to her autonomy, to her prosperity
His sagacious utterances, his beliefs and ethics
mentor us we live our time on earth
His presence remains strong, although subtle,
akin to the radiant beams of moonlight-
which illuminate the night sky, yet remain unobtrusive,
but enlighten humanity during dire times of conflict,
and guide our souls and consciences-
sparkles the jewel of Gandhi’s posthumous existence
years after his untimely demise,
whose luminosity will remain close to our hearts
until eternity
