I am living in the pain of a mature seed
Deep in maternal penance
Under the ground….
It’s the pain in which
The whole of black Africa lives
The blood-seed agog with a demonic life-flood,
Whose possible sprouting takes the breath away
From our uprooted deodars
One sun
Burning in the sky
Quenches the thirst of timeless ages
Sews the garment for the new-born
With the countless needles of its rays
I am shaken by a pain
Un-felt before…
A full moon bulging
In the womb of this cruel new-moon night.
