I Often | Rachit Sharma

Full disclosure: I often borrow words and phrases grander than my imaginations
to use for our letters,
I often mark old memories and place you in them,
I often, and painfully, stare at the unread book at my side table,
because we promised to read it together,
I often withhold details of my day from others,
to give you the first account,
I often screenshot scenes from movies to send to you,
where actors abandon themselves to be characters,
and characters have escaped all orbits of a writer’s vision,
I often carry your musk long after our brief meetings,
I often brew my coffee strong at late nights,
while I neither like coffee nor being awake at night,
but
I like talking to you.
